How to Use

It’s important to change your engine oil typically every 7,500-10,000 miles but you should check your owner’s manual for specific guidelines. When it comes to using our 5W-30 engine oil for your Ford, here are some step-by-step instructions.

Checking your engine oil

  1. If you need to check your engine oil levels, ensure your vehicle is parked on a flat surface to get an accurate oil level reading. It’s also best to check the oil when the engine is cool or has been off for a few minutes. This allows the oil to settle back into the oil pan for a more accurate reading.
  2. Open up the bonnet of your car and locate the oil dipstick. It’s usually a brightly coloured handle labelled “Engine Oil” or similar. Pull the dipstick out of its tube and wipe it clean with a rag or paper towel. This ensures any excess oil doesn’t skew your reading.
  3. Fully reinsert the dipstick back into its tube, making sure it’s seated properly. Pull the dipstick out again and observe the oil level. There are typically two marks on the dipstick—a “low” mark and a “full” mark. The oil level should fall between these two marks. If it’s below the “low” mark, you’ll need to top up the oil.

Topping up your engine oil

  1. If the oil level is low, remove the oil filler cap located on the top of the engine. Using a funnel, carefully add small amounts of the recommended oil grade for your vehicle. Be cautious not to overfill, as this can cause damage to your engine.
  2. After adding oil, wait a few moments for it to settle, then recheck the oil level using the dipstick. Continue adding oil in small increments until the level is between the upper and lower markings.
  3. Once you’ve reached the correct oil level, securely tighten the oil filler cap back onto the engine.
